A new metro line is proposed to be launched, stretching across five districts of Guangzhou city.The metro operator revealed its plans for geotechnical investigation earlier this year and received primary approval in July from provincial authorities. The new metro line will break ground in November for the building of 43.2 kilometers of rail line and the construction of 32 stations.

The rail will link Liwan, Yuexiu, Baiyun, Tianhe and Haizhu districts, including Guangzhou Railway Station and Guangzhou East Railway Station. As the first loop metro line in the city, it will have 20 interchange stations accessible to almost every line of the metro system.

The Line 11 is expected to open in 2018.
