Singapore and Guangdong Work on Electronic Smart Card

Ling Nan Tong (岭南通), the electronic card for metro and bus in the Pearl River cities, will extent its service outside China. The new smart card named “Connecting Guangdong and Singapore" (一通粤新) is expected to be issued in the first half of 2014.

 

The holders can use the card for public transport systems (metro, bus, cruise and tunnel rails), retailing and scenic admission of the two places. There are two electronic purses in the card – Singapore Dollar and RMB. Over 100,000 computer terminals can accept the card.

 

On August 21, the signing memorandum was signed by the Xie Zhendong, General Manager of Guangdong Pass Payment Network Company Limited and the Executive Director of Singapore EZ-Link Pte Ltd. Vice governor of Guangdong province Zhao Yufang and Lui Tuck Yew, Minister for Singapore Transport attended the ceremony. The two companies also plan to make more IC applications in the Sino-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City for the convenience of businessmen.
