Race up the IFC Guangzhou in November

IFC Guangzhou, one of the ten tallest skyscrapers in the world, will embrace its first stair race on November 3.

Boasting a height of 432m and a total of 2652 steps, the IFC race is expected to surpass the famous races at New York's Empire State Building and Taipei 101 and become a new stair climbing event, boasting the highest altitude in the world. The race is scheduled to take place annually.

According to the organizer, the event this year will offer prize money totalling RMB 500,000 and individual prizes will be as high as RMB 50,000 at the most.

The race will be divided into 3 teams: competition team, enterprise team, and public team. Competitors for the competition team are required to finish the 103 floors while other participants can stop at the 62nd floor.

"Stair climbing is one of the easiest and most common exercises in the community. The event aims at encouraging people to challenge themselves and make a breakthrough." said Zhuchen, vice manager of Yuexiu Real Estate.

Since September 23, the event has been open to registration. The competition team will be limited to 100 persons and the public to 640 persons. Each participant can also receive a special IFC souvenir.
