One-week Boluo Birth Temple Fair to Open in GZ

The annual festival, Boluo Birth Temple Fair, will be held on March 9, the day after tomorrow, at Nanhai Sea God Temple and the surrounding area in Huangpu District. Lasting for seven days, the fair will celebrate its tenth edition to commemorate the birth of the Pala Emperor (translated into Chinese as Boluo), an Indian sovereign said to pay tribute to the Chinese emperor.


Attendees can enjoy a fascinating one-week carnival, appreciating a variety of performances, including traditional song and dance, dramatic productions and photo exhibitions, and enjoy many tasteful Cantonese foods and snacks.


An opening ceremony will be held at the south square of Nanhai Sea City God on March 9. On March 13, the lasting of this exciting fair, a parade will be launched between different villages in the area. Villagers will carry statues of the Nanhai Sea God’s five sons onto the shoulders to Nanhai Sea God Temple to "celebrate" their deified father’s birthday.
