Haizhu to Build New City Landmark

Guangzhou Urban Planning Committee approved on July 1 a plan to build an office tower complex in Lijiao, Haizhu District, standing on the south end of the city's New Axis.

The complex, nicknamed "The Window of Guangzhou", comprises of three towers creating the shape of "001". The three towers are 150 meters, 187 meters and 200 meters tall respectively. They sit at the north bank of the Pearl River, taking 167,259 sq. m of land. They are used as the South China headquarters of China Communications Construction Company.

"The complex should be created as a landmark of the Pearl River waterway," Guangzhou's mayor Chen Jianhua said.

Besides building the office towers, the plan also proposes to help improving the traffic condition of the area by building four new roads and a bus terminus.
