Sydney Symphony Orchestra (SSO) from Australia, one of the world’s finest orchestras, will start the third visit to China on June 22, which will present performances in seven cities - Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Jinan, Hangzhou and Xi’an. And Guangzhou is the last stop of its seven-city tour of China.

The SSO will hold a workshop with musicians at the Xinghai Conservatory of Music in Guangzhou on July 5 as part of its education activities. The details are as follows:

-  Date: July 5 (Saturday), 2014

-  Time: 8:00 pm

-  Venue: Xinghai Concert Hall, No. 33, Qingbo Lu, Ersha Island, Yuexiu District, Guangzhou

The orchestra will also demonstrate the calibre of Australia’s contemporary classical music scene, by performing the world premiere of a new work by Australian composer Andrew Schultz called Sound Lur and Serpent - fanfare for brass and percussion. Two works by Chinese composers will be celebrated as encores on the tour and highlight the cross-over between western and Chinese music traditions.

The two-week tour of concerts, education and outreach activities will solidify the orchestra’s position as the leading cultural ambassador for Australia, especially in Asia, according to Rory.
