As the biggest automobile trading center in Southern China, Guangzhou’s Race Course Auto Mall has been cleared out by Mar. 30 and closed on Apr. 1. Due to this sudden closure, some of the car shops completely ended their run in this town, while the majority has shifted to the remote outskirts of the city. For those who have played a part in the industry, the closure of the motor town is not merely a goodbye to the car related businesses within, but also a farewell to over a decade of memories.

Once built for the horse racing casino, which was shut down in December of 1999, the place was turned into the “Race Course Auto Mall”, covering an area of 180, 000 square meters. After a decade long run, it had become the biggest auto market in Guangzhou and all of Southern China. Many businessmen, who have seen their fair share of ups-and-downs in their career, have been attached with this small town. But now, the motor town is time to say goodbye.
