The world s largest fast food chain, McDonald s Corp plans to add 150 stores to its China fleet next year, amid fierce competition in the world s robust economy.
Jeff Swartz, CEO of McDonald China said the company would keep an annual growth of 15% in the next few years with plans to open at least 125 outlets in 2008 and around 150 in 2009.
The company plans to spend US$2 billion on its global networks and sell nearly 21% of its restaurants to franchisees in line with its 2008 budget. And the giant will focus more on the emerging markets like China, Russia and India, Jeff revealed.
However, McDonald s outlets in China will still lag behind with less than half of the 2,000 KFC stores in China.
In addition, Yum Brands Inc, owner of the Pizza Hut, Taco Bell and KFC fast-food chains, expects 26% of earnings generated from China this year
