The Ministry of Railways has put into service 15 home-made CRH multiple units this Spring Festival, among which 6 have been assigned to the Guangzhou Railway Corporation. They will take on the operation of 22 pairs of passenger trains from Guangzhou East Railway Station to Shenzhen on the Guang-Shen Line. At the moment, 4 multiple units have completed testing and pilot running and are expected to be put into service in succession today.
The serving high-speed trains will be classified into first-class and second-class, with ticket prices being almost the same as current prices. Since the 6th big train acceleration on April 18th, 2006, it only takes 50 minutes by high-speed train from Guangzhou to Shenzhen.
Every CRH1 multiple unit is composed of 8 trains, 5 are motor cars and 3 are trailers. The head and tail trains both have cabs and can drive two ways without adding locomotives. The LCD screen in the compartment can announce in advance the arriving stations via the GPS system.
The specific train number and running dates of these home-made CRH high-speed trains between Guangzhou and Shenzhen have been set initially: Guangzhou East Railway Station-Shenzhen, T971/2, T871/2 starting on February 1st; and T771, T981, T781 will launch service on February 2nd.
